How to begin your involvement with Illinois Christian Communicators

NCFCA competition is open to homeschool students ages 12-18.  If you are interested in getting started in speech and debate, Illinois Christian Communicators is here to assist you!

Leadership:

Illinois Christian Communicators Executive Director Diana Wolfson and the Illinois Christian Communicators staff organize tournaments and other learning activities around the state.  Illinois Christian Communicators will help you to establish a team or club in your area.  As of right now, there are clubs in the Chicago suburbs, greater Peoria, and the St. Louis metropolitan area.  Additional clubs are being formed in surrounding states (Indiana, Iowa, and Missouri) with assistance from Illinois Christian Communicators.  If you are interested in starting a club in your area, please contact us and we will be glad to assist you in starting an NCFCA program!

Tournaments:

Illinois Christian Communicators offers tournaments in various regions of the state.  If you are interested in attending a tournament, competing, judging, hosting or observing, visit the tournament page or contact us.

Training:

Illinois Christian Communicators will work with you to establish training opportunities.  We have had Communicators For Christ conferences, offered workshops, and hosted critique events.  In the summer of 2004, we are planning a one-week debate camp.  This camp is currently in its planning phase, but information will be available shortly.  The camp would be offered for all debate styles (policy and LD) as well as all experience levels (beginning to advanced).  Click here for more information about the Summer Debate Institute.

Resources:

There are numerous speech and debate resources available for purchase in order to train students and parents/coaches in the activity.  Additional resources are available on the NCFCA website.
Here are a few suggestions:

The Great Debate! Freedom to Communicate! by Jonathan Wolfson with contributions from Jonathan Krive.  This handbook for policy debate is written by a former NCFCA competitor and has contributions from a current NCFCA competitor.  More information about this team policy debate teaching resource can be found on The Great Debate website.

As I was Saying by Thane Rehn.  This book offers information on public speaking for competition and is written by a former NCFCA competitor.  Additional information about this speech resource (as well as other resources) can by found on The Communicators for Christ website.

Have other questions...still need more information?!
